A quick update on my fitness status: I’m happy to say that I have been able to continue my daily exercise since I started Thanksgiving day, 2011. I aim for 6 days a week, first thing in the morning. My method of choice is walking. There is a fitness trail not too far from my house, so I walk to the entrace to the trail, then head down the trail to our main street (the heart of town) then cut back through the neighborhood back to home. A couple of weeks ago I went to runningmap.com to map my route, and I discovered it’s about 1.5 miles. I aim to walk briskly to help get my heart rate up, and on the way back there is one big hill to descend and climb. I can’t say that I feel like I have much more energy during the day, but I can say that since exercising I have not suffered from the dreaded occasional insomnia that I’ve been dealing with ever since I’ve had children. It takes me 1/2 hour to do my walk, and I go early in the morning around 6:30 before my husband goes to work. It’s HARD to get up. It’s also FREEZING outside. I must look crazy, but I wear a heavy coat and a scull cap. During my walk I’m able to pray and have time with the Lord uninterrupted. When I come back, I have a short Bible study and by then the kids are up. I make their breakfast, then while they are eating, I take a quick shower. Homeschooling starts around 9 a.m., so this schedule works well so far! Like I said, the hardest part is JUST GETTING UP!
